How do your Linux based DVRs write to 2 HDDs? (Assuming 2 HDDs are installed.)

For 2 HDDs system, the 2 HDDs work and recycle separately. When disk 1 is full, it will recycle itself. The situation is the same with disk 2. Video ch. 1~8 will go to disk 1 and 9~16 go to disk 2 by default. At maintainence page (The 5 seconds countdown when starting), you can change which cameras to are recorded to which disks.

If I have a Star LINUX DVR, with a DVD/RW, when I make a backup DVD can I play it back in a regular home DVD player?

The Star Linux DVR backs up the video using proprietary software. The system automatically provides you with a DVR Backup Viewer on the CD you burned. This software allows you to view the backed up video and then convert it to a common AVI file that can be played mostly anywhere. You cannot however view the video directly in your DVD player. There is no standard format for DVD players. There are mpeg2, divx, mpeg1, svd, sv and many other formats that exsist for DVD players. No one DVD player uses all of these formats so if even if you backed up your DVR using a common AVI file the chances that your DVD would play it would be slim.

Can DOM's be upgraded as improvements become available? How will this be done?

I am trying to view a Nubix4-LT over the internet. I can do it on some PCs but not on PCs with Windows Vista. How can I solve this problem?

One of our professionals has personally addressed this concern. Below is a copy of the actual reply he made to this question.

"I see you are having trouble with viewing LT dvr thru Vista.  The LT can be viewed thru a Vista
operating system.  One thing to double check is to see if you have JAVA installed in that Vista PC.
If not you can go to www.JAVA.com and get it thru there.  Also another thing to try is too use the software VIDEO SERVER E, which comes with the box contents of the DVR.  If not you can go to our support site www.CCTVSUPPORTSITE.com.  We have a Vista PC here at our facility, and it works just fine.  If you need any further assistance you may contact the Tech Dept. through Phone, @ (954)929-3646."

How do I install Access Control Client Software for Nubix Integration?

First, download this file: AvatarHandler.ashx?radfile=%2fDepartments%2f1%2fEclipse701ClientSetup-PRN.zip

Please contact support before installing this version of the software.

Attached is the 701 client software you must use.  This version has the programming to make the computer send information out of a port to a dvr (nubix).  Once you install the software you must go into the registry edit of Windows the directions are as follows:

START - RUN - REGEDIT - HKEY_CURRENT_USER - SOFTWARE - SOYAL - 701 CLIENT - SETTINGS - MSG PRINTER

When you are in the MSG properties you will see the comport that the pc is using to send out info from the computer to the dvr.  Choose the comport# that you will use. (remember the computer will be using two comports, one for receiving the data from the access control and the other is for sending data out to the dvr from the computer.

The computer is now ready to send the text information to the dvr to overlay on a channel input.

To setup the dvr for receiving the text:
Go to the EVENT IN tab of the menu.
Put a “check” on TEXT INSERT box of the channel you want it to overlay on.
OR,
Put a “P” to make the channel pop to full screen every time a user pass there pin/card.
Then go to “text insert setup” on the top area of the EVENT IN screen and choose the channel that the text will overlay on.
And make sure the baud rate parameters are correct.  Start and End parameters leave blank.  And that is all to do at the DVR.
All these steps should make the access control log overlay on the nubix dvr’s.

DOES THE NUBIX16LT ALLOW MORE THAN ONE USER CONNECT AT THE SAME TIME REMOTELY USING THE CLIENT SOFTWARE?

The Nubix-16LT allows five users to connect at the same time.

Customer reported video missing Nub16lt. I checked HDD INFO and MASTER was 0, is that ok? Slave had some GBs left. I couldn't access MASTER HD from the search menu [NO DATA]. So I SYSTEM CLEARed HDD MASTER. What am I doing when I CLEAR the HDD? Am I supposed to this and when? Should I have cleared both of them? cause now its showing HDD INFO SLAVE 0. Shouldn't it automatically overwrite MASTER HDD when it goes to 0 without me having to CLEAR it when set to OW?

It is normal for the unit to report 0 free space once the drive is full, as it will overwrite at this point but will always be at max capacity. However, the NO DATA message is not normal. It sounds like the hard drive could possibly be failing. You can try swapping out the hard disk drive yourself if you'd like but if your unit is still under warranty please contact the dealer you purchased this from first to ensure that you do not jeapordize your warranty status. As far as the CLEAR HDD function, what this does is erase all recorded video and is not something you should ever have to do. It is merely for convenience in the event that the equipment owner desires to remove recorded video for whatever reason. The unit should always be recording over its oldest data when you have it set to OW.

What are the images sizes of the Nubix DVRs?

This page has a handy set of tables.

Can the Nubix16lt USB port be changed from 1.1 to 2.0? (For an external CD/RW drive.)

No. You can not upgrade the USB port on that model DVR.

I need the default login and password to get into the Nubix4LT.

The default is admin/admin. These can be changed once you have connected for the first time with the client software.

How do I connect a VGA monitor to a Nubix4LT DVR? Do I need a VGA converter?

You need to use a converter, like the ECL-VGAC, if you want to connect a VGA monitor to this DVR.

Orbix DVRs

How do i connect an orbix to a network?

The good folks at CCTVSUPPORTSITE.COM have provided a handy video presentation here (http://www.cctvoutlet.info/faq/?f=373). It covers all commonly encountered situations.

What hdds does the orbix4 and orbix16 channel models support?

Please refer to this page for a list of HDDs tested in Orbix4ch and Orbix16ch DVRs.

I made an AVI file backup on my Orbix but it won't play on my PC.

Try this codec: AvatarHandler.ashx?radfile=%2fDepartments%2f1%2fffdshow_beta6_rev2527_20081219.exe.zip

The Orbix client software on my pC is asking for a password. I forgot it or don't know it.

Run this file to disable the password check that is giving you trouble: AvatarHandler.ashx?radfile=%2fDepartments%2f1%2fdvrviewerpasswordkill.reg

There is a VGA connector and a COmposite (BNC) connector on my Orbix but I can only get video out of one of them.

Your model Orbix can (probably) have only one video output active at once. To switch the active video output, do the following:

To turn on the VGA output: Start with the DVR in the OFF state. Hold the MENU key down AND the number 4 key down (on the front panel), then power-up the DVR. Keep holding both keys down until you hear a beep during the power up process. The VGA output should be active.

To turn on the COMPOSITE output: Start with the DVR in the OFF state. Hold the MENU key down AND the number 3 key down (on the front panel), then power-up the DVR. Keep holding both keys down until you hear a beep during the power up process. The COMPOSITE output should be active.
